​Examine the current Social Media marketing tools


When entering a new environment the first thing soldiers are trained to do is to assess carefully the vantage points , and while as a marketing manager you might not be quite going to war the battlefield principles are the same: you will firstly examine the current situation before taking any immediate action, almost like a SWOT analysis of the companies overall digital marketing strategy: a social media marketing audit.

This audit will help you assess the current state of social media within the company and help shape the goals you set moving forward. The social media marketing audit should  include:
  • A list of all company social media & SEO accounts, and evaluating their current performance( taking into account their recency and frequency of updates)
  • Establishing who has access to all accounts, and centralising permissions.
  • Establishing all tools being used for social media marketing and centralising social activities into one social media management dashboard like Hootsuite for example.
  • Understanding the process by which social media activities are requested and see if they fit the marketing & SEO goals
